CSM includes a powerful peak-search tool. This uses a model-independent algorithm to identify possible peaks within a powder diffraction profile. Each candidate peak is assigned a probability, and those peaks whose probability exceeds the current adjustable 'threshold' are deemed to constitute the peak list. In addition, it is possible to use the graph to manually include or exclude individual peaks from the list. CSM does not require the peak list to be used for search-match - it will provide good results using raw data alone. However, a good peak list is a valuable extra source of information which can often 'sharpen up' the results of search-match, as well as aid in the interpretation of results. In addition, the peak list may be exported for other purposes such as auto-indexing. |
